Trip Start-up

The Tango Bar in Buenos Aires
(from our first visit in 2008)

Believe it or not, we have visited every continent except one: Antarctica. We will not actually set foot on Antarctica on this trip, but we will travel through the waters of Antarctica and that is close enough for us. To make this monumental journey, we will cruise around Cape Horn, the southern most part of South America. Our Holland America ship (one of our favorite lines) will cruise from Valparaiso, Chile to Buenos Aires, Argentina. As an added bonus, on the way home, we'll stop in Dallas to pay homage to JFK by visiting the School Book Depository and Dealey Plaza.

Here are the basics of this amazing journey:

Fly to Santiago, Chile (2 hrs. from Valparaiso)

Valparaiso, Chile -- we'll spend several days learning about this quirky seaside city and drinking some marvelous Chilean wine!

We will then board the MS Zaandam in Valparaiso for our 14-night South American Passage Cruise with these ports/highlights:

Puerto Montt, Chile -- gorgeous scenery and German-style villages

Puerto Chacabuco, Chile -- waterfalls and scenic wonders in Patagonia

     Cruise the Chilean Fjords

Cruise through the Strait of Magellan

Punta Arenas, Chile -- visit Magdalena Islands to see the penguins

Cruise through the Cockburn and Beagle Channels

     Cruise through Glacier Alley

Ushuaia, Argentina -- visit to Tierra del Fuego National Park and the Prison Museum

     Cruising Cape Horn

Stanley, Falkland Islands -- see penguins and visit the Historic Dockyards Museum

Montevideo, Uruguay -- walking tour and Carnaval Museum

Buenos Aires, Argentina -- walking tour of La Boca (where tango was born)

Fly to Dallas, Texas -- visit to Dealey Plaza and the 6th Floor Book Depository Museum

Fly home

We look forward to this adventure to the End of the World and thank you, as always, for making the journey with us!

Hasta luego,

Frank & Anne
